The Leesburg Police Department apprehended a man for stealing a Leesburg Fire Department truck that was parked at the Leesburg International Airport on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
According to the arrest report, the incident began when a lieutenant from Leesburg Fire Department Station 63, which is located on airport property, observed the 2002 Ford pickup truck, designated U-63 #305, vacate its parking area.
The lieutenant laughed as he raised his hands and waved, mistaking it for a coworker. That’s when the suspect, 55-year-old Thomas Sisson, pulled down the window, exposing he was not permitted to drive the vehicle.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded and cooperated in the investigation.
Sisson was later observed escaping on foot, probably attempting to burglarize or steal autos from dealerships near the airport.
He was eventually captured, and he told officers he arrived at Station 63 via an open entrance in the auto-bay area. Sisson thought the structure was deserted, so he discovered the truck with the keys inside and started it, planning to depart the property with the vehicle.
Sisson was transferred to the Lake County Jail:
• In December 2024, she was arrested after leading a Florida Highway Patrol trooper on a chase that reached a high speed of 112 miles per hour.
• In 2016, Anderson was arrested after a disturbance at Best Buy in Lady Lake. Then, she was living on the Historic Side of The Villages.
• In 2011, Anderson received a suspended sentence of one month and 29 days in jail on a charge of disorderly conduct.
• She was also arrested for misdemeanor battery in 2001 in Fort Lauderdale.
