Mother of 7 discovered dead in Northeast El Paso apartment

An El Paso Police Department investigation continues looking into the death of a woman at a Northeast apartment complex.

Katrina Ann Silvas, 27, who was identified in an online obituary as the mother of seven children, was discovered dead at 10:15 p.m. on May 6 at the Sun Pointe condominiums at 4700 Hondo Pass Drive, according to Officer Adrian Cisneros.

On Tuesday, May 12, Cisneros stated that the Crimes Against Persons Unit is handling the death investigation. The cause of death and homicide status are still being determined.”Katrina was very loved and will always be missed,” according to a Sunset Funeral Homes obituary. Silvas is left by four boys and three daughters.

Red and yellow crime-scene tape was recently seen blocking a door at one of Sun Pointe’s units.

The Sun Pointe apartments are owned by Housing Operations and Management Enterprises, or HOME, El Paso’s public housing authority.

Sun Pointe is built on the site of the former Franklin D. Roosevelt Apartments public housing project in the Angel’s Triangle area.
