Grapevine police arrest 5 in connection with $1.6 million worth of auto thefts, officials say

A group of five people stole vehicles worth $1.6 million in a theft ring that spanned the entire Metroplex, Grapevine police said.

Grapevine police officers investigated the theft ring for five months, connecting five individuals and recovering huge quantities of cash and stolen firearms, according to a Grapevine Police Department press release.

On January 29, 2026, officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at the Embassy Suites in Grapevine, according to the announcement. Overnight patrol officers tracked down the vehicle and recovered it the same night, according to police. During the inquiry, investigators discovered that the car’s plates had been swapped and linked them to other stolen vehicles, according to the announcement.

Detectives served search warrants at houses, chop shops, and storage facilities throughout the investigation, according to authorities. According to the announcement, investigators were able to recover car parts from over 30 vehicles, as well as VIN-swapped automobiles and an unreported stolen vehicle that was utilized to steal other vehicles.

The stolen automobiles are estimated to be worth $1.6 million, and authorities hope to locate further vehicles related to the case.

Jose Angel Rodriguez Granados, Myles Guidry, Shayla She Ree Edwards, Diego Rodriguez, and Perla Rodriguez have all been accused with engaging in organized criminal activity and property theft in excess of $300,000.
