Police: 6 teens beat woman inside Pa. Sephora and caused $30,000 in damage

Six teenage girls were detained Tuesday after police claimed they chased and attacked a woman inside a Pittsburgh Sephora store.

According to TribLive, the teens allegedly damaged the business for almost $30,000 in total.

Police said they were summoned to the store, which is located on Shady Avenue in the city’s East Liberty neighborhood, around 6 p.m. after receiving a report of a dispute.

When they arrived, they discovered a woman outside who was bleeding profusely from the head.

The woman admitted to authorities that she had “briefly engaged” with a group of teen girls while walking by a bus stop. The teens then began to pursue and insult her.

The woman claimed she then went into Sephora to hide in a bathroom, but the group followed her inside.

The teenagers then screamed, punched, and kicked the victim before hitting her with a sign. They also barricaded the door so she couldn’t escape.

According to authorities, they began tossing glass bottles and other store products.

According to police, the victim escaped as authorities arrived and was brought to a hospital for treatment. Her current state is unknown.

The teenagers, ages 14 to 17, were charged with aggravated assault, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct/fighting, simple assault, and criminal conspiracy. Three of them were also accused of providing fraudulent identities to police authorities. All of the suspects were classified as juveniles.

The Sephora store is part of The Meridian, a mixed-use development that debuted last year.
