Family Identifies Suspect Fatally Shot in Richfield Police Shootout

The family has recognized the man who was shot and killed by police in Richfield last week.

The family’s GoFundMe page identified the man shot as Desaver Hollis, and the appeal is gathering money to cover burial costs and airfare because his family lives in Las Vegas.

As previously reported, Richfield police said officers were dispatched to Morgan Avenue and 75th Street about 3:24 a.m. on April 29, when a neighbor reported that someone was targeting cars in the neighborhood.

Richfield police reported that when they located the subject, he fled, and cops after him.

During the pursuit, the suspect displayed a gun, and shots were fired between him and Richfield police officers. Police reported that both the suspect and an officer were struck.

The suspect, named as Hollis, died on the scene.

Following being shot in the hand, the cop was sent to a local hospital for treatment.

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) is now investigating the shooting.
