Two people were killed and several others injured in separate overnight shootings on Indianapolis’ near north and west sides, according to police.
Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were summoned just before midnight Sunday to a mobile home park near Rockville Road and South Lynhurst Drive after receiving a report of shots fired. At the scene, police discovered a woman with a gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital by medics, where she later died.
Following that incident, officers were dispatched to a home in the 4000 block of North Park Avenue, near 38th Street and College Avenue, for another alleged shooting.
Police discovered at least one victim at the Park Avenue site. Authorities later stated that two additional victims arrived at IU Methodist Hospital with gunshot wounds related to the incident. One of the victims eventually died.
Investigators have not established the total number of people shot in the Park Avenue event, nor have they revealed the identities or conditions of the victims.
A public information officer is anticipated to provide additional information as the inquiry progresses. Police have not said whether the shootings are connected.
