LAKE FOREST, Calif. (KABC) — A California mother is facing charges after her 14-year-old son allegedly left an elderly man critically injured in an e-motorcycle crash.
The incident happened last month in Lake Forest.
Authorities said the teen was performing wheelies when he collided with an 81-year-old victim.
The victim, a Vietnam veteran, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Prosecutors say 50-year-old Tommi Jo Meher had previously been warned about allowing her son to ride the e-motorcycle illegally.
Under California law, e-motorcycles require a valid motorcycle license, registration, and insurance, and riders must be at least 16 years old.
Meher was arrested Tuesday and now faces multiple charges, including felony child endangerment and felony accessory.
If convicted, she could face nearly seven years in prison.
A GoFundMe campaign has also been launched to help cover the victim’s medical expenses.
