Louisville man killed in Highview hit-and-run crash

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man has died following a hit-and-run collision on April 16 in the Highview area, according to Louisville Metro Police.

Officers responded around 11 p.m. to a report of a person down near the intersection of Vaughn Mill Road and Briscoe Lane, spokesperson Aaron Ellis said. When they arrived, they found a pedestrian described as a “young male” who had been struck.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as 27-year-old Adam Troutman of Louisville. Emergency services pronounced him dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation indicates Troutman was walking northbound along the right shoulder in a non-lit section of Vaughn Mill Road when an unknown vehicle traveling in the same direction struck him from behind. The impact knocked him into a ditch line, and the driver did not stop to render aid, Ellis said.

Investigators believe the vehicle involved is a 2016 or 2017 Chevy Equinox, though the color is unknown. Police said the vehicle should have damage on its right side, including a broken headlight.
