A Louisville man faces charges after allegedly assaulting first responders and police following a crash in Floyd County on March 21.
FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) — Authorities charged a Louisville man after he allegedly assaulted first responders and police following a crash in Floyd County on March 21.
According to an arrest citation, Kentucky State Police officers responded to a crash with injuries on U.S. 23 in the Betsy Layne community around 9:58 p.m.
When officers arrived, they reported the crash occurred in front of the Cardinal Mart in Stanville, where firefighters and EMS crews were already on scene.
Firefighters and EMS told officers that a female driver involved in the crash suffered serious injuries and ran into her apartment near the Subway in Stanville.
They also said Donald Clark, who was in the vehicle with the woman, stood at the top of the apartment staircase and refused to allow anyone to assist or provide aid to her.
When Kentucky State Police approached Clark, they said he would not allow them upstairs to investigate.
According to the citation, Clark then approached officers in an “aggressive manner,” resisted arrest, and kicked a firefighter at the scene. He also allegedly headbutted a KSP officer.
Officers reported that no one was injured during the altercation. They arrested Clark and transported him to the Floyd County Detention Center.
Clark faces several charges, including two counts of third-degree assault, disorderly conduct, menacing, obstructing governmental operations, and resisting arrest.
