LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A weapons detection system prevented a gun from entering a Louisville high school Thursday after identifying it in a student’s backpack.
In an email to parents, Waggener High School Principal Dr. Sarah Hitchings said the system flagged the weapon around 9:15 a.m. when a late-arriving student entered the building.
JCPS Police quickly secured the gun, and officials said it was never used in a threatening manner.
The student is now facing disciplinary action and will also be charged criminally.
