KENTUCKY — A traffic stop in Metcalfe County on Saturday evening led to the arrest of a man on multiple drug and driving charges.
According to the Metcalfe County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy stopped a pickup truck traveling south on KY 1243 in Knob Lick after observing careless driving.
Authorities said the driver, identified as 62-year-old Ronald D. Poynter, showed signs of impairment when the deputy approached him.
After conducting field sobriety tests, deputies arrested Poynter for driving under the influence.
During the investigation, deputies reported finding suspected methamphetamine, prescription-controlled substances, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia in his possession.
Poynter was transported to a local hospital for a toxicology exam before being booked into the Barren County Detention Center.
He faces multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance (unspecified), trafficking in marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, DUI, and careless driving.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
