The body of a woman who went missing after her car crashed into the Ohio River in February has been found near the Ohio-Kentucky border.
According to the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office, the body of 32-year-old Keely Shuler was discovered while authorities from West Virginia and Kentucky were searching the area for an unrelated individual.
Shuler had been missing since Feb. 10, when her vehicle went off the road in Pomeroy and plunged into the ice-covered Ohio River.
A 4-year-old girl who was inside the vehicle was rescued before the car became fully submerged.
Officials said Shuler was initially identified through photographs and distinctive tattoos noted in her missing person report.
Members of the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office and Shuler’s family later traveled to meet with Kentucky authorities near the Ohio-Kentucky border to confirm her identity.
