A Louisville man faces decades in federal prison after recording himself sexually abusing a young girl. A federal jury recently found 35-year-old Quinnton Dawson guilty on nine child exploitation charges.

The Department of Justice stated that Dawson filmed himself engaging in sexual acts with a 4-year-old. Court documents reveal that investigators discovered these videos in late 2022, only months after a Jefferson Circuit Court judge granted him shock probation—a form of early release—for previous convictions involving the possession and distribution of child pornography.

Dawson’s legal history with these crimes dates back to 2020. Records indicate his five-year shock probation began in May 2022. However, he violated his parole just months later when the Louisville Metro Police Department arrested him for robbery. During that investigation, police uncovered further probation violations, including various children’s items in his home and the footage of the abuse.

United States Attorney Kyle Bumgarner addressed the case in a news release:

“It is hard to quantify the depravity it takes for a man to film himself engaging in sex acts with a four-year-old child. It truly demonstrates that evil is among us. My heart goes out to this innocent little girl and her family. I want to commend the prosecutors and law enforcement officers that diligently worked to ensure this monster was convicted and removed from Louisville for decades.”

Dawson is currently held at a medium/maximum security facility in Oldham County. His sentencing is set for June 11, where he faces a minimum of 35 years and a maximum of 340 years in prison. Because this is a federal case, he will not be eligible for parole.
