Jasmine Proaño was one of about 200 performers dressed as grass during the show.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) — A Louisville mother was among the hundreds of performers who shared the stage with Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny during the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Jasmine Proaño told WAVE News she had dreamed of being part of a halftime show cast since watching Kendrick Lamar’s performance in 2025. She applied through the production company in fall 2025, but after not hearing back, assumed she had not been selected.

The production company had sent her an offer, but Proaño missed the email while dealing with a winter storm a few weeks earlier.

“I was shocked and panicked,” she said. “The first rehearsal was already happening and I was going to miss it. Missing was not an option, so I emailed them and explained my situation. They told me that if I could 100 percent commit to the rest of the rehearsal schedule, they would keep me as cast. I flew out two mornings later.”

Proaño said she was not entirely sure what the role would involve. The application noted the production team was looking for people over 5 feet 7 inches with a slender to athletic build who could wear a 40-pound costume for extended periods.

Once rehearsals began, she learned she would be part of the set, portraying grass.

“One of the main people who designed the costume put it fully on to show us, and I think we were all speechless,” she said. “It took seven to eight people to get everyone into their costumes. It was a process, but that’s why we were there for two weeks, to figure everything out so we could get onto the field on time and do our jobs.”

WAVE News spoke with Proaño as she traveled back to Louisville from California. While she was excited to reunite with her family, she said she was still processing the experience.

“I was so nervous walking into the stadium,” she said. “It was loud and there were so many people. On game day, my row had to turn around and face the crowd. As soon as the show started, I saw John Hamm under the field goal post dancing and having the best time. I loved Mad Men when it aired and could not believe he was maybe 30 feet away from me enjoying the show.”

Proaño said one of the most surreal moments was being so close to Bad Bunny and the celebrity guests he brought out, including Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin.

“During parts of the show, Bad Bunny was very close to me,” she said. “He wore sunglasses a lot, but I hope he could see the admiration in my eyes. I had to keep calming my nerves knowing I was even close to these people. It was an out of body experience.”

Proaño said her next goal is to return home, train harder, and aim to perform in another Super Bowl, this time as a backup dancer.
