KENTUCKY — A 14-year-old boy died Wednesday afternoon following an accidental shooting in Louisville’s California neighborhood, according to police.
Louisville Metro Police said officers were called around 2:30 p.m. to the 1800 block of Greenwood Avenue. When they arrived, they found a juvenile male suffering from a gunshot wound.
Investigators said the initial findings indicate the boy accidentally shot himself. Police have not released additional details about how the shooting occurred.
The boy, who has not yet been identified, was taken to UofL Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
LMPD’s Homicide Unit is handling the investigation.
