FRANKLIN, Ky. — A Louisville man allegedly stole a vehicle and was later located in Simpson County early Monday morning.
According to a uniform citation, the Franklin Police Department responded just after midnight to a report of a suspicious vehicle at the Marathon Gas Station at 4391 Nashville Road.
Kentucky State Police told officers that a man exited a vehicle at a gas pump, removed items from inside, and left the door and trunk open. He then walked to the nearby Flying J Travel Center at 4380 Nashville Road.
Police said the vehicle had reportedly been stolen in Louisville on Sunday.
Officers made contact with Douglas Tucker, 58, of Louisville, at the Flying J.
Tucker allegedly told officers he drives a Mazda and said he had traveled from Louisville to Franklin.
According to the citation, Tucker did not speak with officers further about the incident.
Police said they also contacted the vehicle’s owner, who reported the car was stolen while he was unloading groceries at his home.
Tucker was arrested and taken to the Simpson County Jail. He is charged with receiving stolen property valued at $10,000 or more.
