LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A 48-year-old man has pled guilty to drug trafficking charges in Jefferson County.
On Tuesday, Roneil Cornelison entered a guilty plea to first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine, two grams or more) on the same day his trial was scheduled to begin, according to prosecutors.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Gerina Whethers said that if the judge follows the recommended sentencing guidelines, Cornelison could face 10 years in prison. He is set to be formally sentenced on March 5.
Court documents show the charges stem from Cornelison possessing roughly one pound of methamphetamine with intent to traffic on May 19, 2023. Police stopped him after observing him following another vehicle too closely.
Cornelison will be required to serve at least 20 percent of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
