KENTUCKY — A man is in custody after leading authorities on a high-speed chase from Logan County to Bowling Green early Sunday morning, officials said.
The pursuit began around 1:17 a.m. on Jan. 18, when a deputy on U.S. 68 East near Kentucky 103 observed a vehicle traveling 80 mph in a 65 mph zone. The driver refused to stop, fleeing from the deputy.
The vehicle reportedly reached speeds over 100 mph and was driven recklessly, prompting assistance from the Kentucky State Police, Warren County Sheriff’s Office, and Bowling Green Police Department. Spike strips were deployed, disabling the vehicle.
The driver, identified as John Long, was taken into custody without incident at a Shell gas station on Russellville Road in Bowling Green. Authorities initially thought the vehicle was stolen from Christian County, but it was later confirmed to be stolen from Nashville. The car was recovered with minimal damage.
Officials said Long was under the influence of drugs and alcohol and was transported for medical evaluation. Investigators also noted he has a suspended Indiana driver’s license.
The case remains under investigation.
