Shoshanha Jones was arrested Tuesday and charged with murder, robbery and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon in connection with the Dec. 31 shooting.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Police said the woman accused of fatally shooting another woman outside a downtown Louisville McDonald’s on New Year’s Eve allegedly opened fire after the victim’s car door struck her vehicle.
Shoshanha Jones was taken into custody Tuesday and faces charges of murder, robbery and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Jones was identified as a suspect in the Dec. 31 shooting in the 400 block of East Market Street, just outside the NuLu area. The shooting was reported around 10:30 p.m. near North Preston and South Jackson streets.
According to court documents, the incident began during an argument after a child was getting out of a vehicle and the car door hit Jones’ vehicle. Police said Jones began yelling at the child, who then returned to the car. The child’s mother was inside the vehicle and tried to redirect Jones’ attention away from the child and toward herself, the documents state.
Jones then retrieved a handgun, and Mayra Rodriguez Munoz got out of the vehicle in an attempt to intervene. Police said Jones fired the weapon, striking Rodriguez Munoz in the chest.
Court records state that another woman was trying to record the incident when Jones pointed the gun at her and forcibly took her phone before leaving the scene.
Police and EMS responded and pronounced Rodriguez Munoz dead at the scene.
Jones was identified as a suspect after her identification was found on the ground near spent shell casings. Police later confirmed her identity and determined she is a convicted felon who is prohibited from owning or possessing a handgun.
Jones is being held at Metro Corrections and is scheduled to appear in court for her arraignment Wednesday morning.
