Ismael Delgado-Guitierez, 30, was arrested Friday on a warrant for assault and receiving stolen property.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred in December near Louisville’s airport.

Louisville Metro Police responded to a reported shooting in the 100 block of East Wellington Avenue just before 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 20, according to a department spokesperson. The location is off East Woodlawn Avenue, near South Second Street and Southern Parkway, in the city’s Beechmont neighborhood.

When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot in the arm. He was taken to University of Louisville Hospital and was expected to survive his injuries.

LMPD said Monday morning that officers arrested 30-year-old Ismael Delgado-Guitierez on Friday afternoon on a warrant related to the shooting.

Delgado-Guitierez was booked into Metro Corrections on charges of assault and receiving stolen property.

According to an arrest citation, detectives with LMPD’s Criminal Interdiction Division Violent Crime Unit were surveilling Delgado-Guitierez, who was using an alias. They located him as a passenger in a van at the intersection of Taylor Boulevard and Arcade Avenue.

Detectives followed the vehicle to Kenwood Avenue and New Cut Road, where they conducted a vehicle takedown by activating their lights and sirens. When taking Delgado-Guitierez into custody, detectives discovered a Glock-style handgun in the center console. The driver told officers the gun did not belong to him and said it belonged to Delgado-Guitierez.

Police received permission from the driver to search the van and recovered the firearm, which was listed as stolen through the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Delgado-Guitierez pleaded not guilty during arraignment court on Monday. A judge set his bond at $50,000 cash, and his next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 20.
