LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) — A 19-year-old is in critical condition after being shot in the back early Wednesday morning near the Auburndale neighborhood.
Louisville Metro Police responded to a shooting in the 1100 block of Royal Gardens Court just before 12:30 a.m. on Nov. 5. Officers found the victim unconscious with a gunshot wound to his back. He was taken to UofL Hospital, where he remains in critical condition, according to an LMPD spokesperson.
Police said they have detained a person of interest but that it’s too early to file charges. Investigators are waiting for an update from hospital staff on the extent of the victim’s injuries, which will determine which unit will take over the case.
