SCUDDY, KY – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Wednesday, September 24, 2025, in Perry County, following a request from a DEA Task Force.

No injuries were reported, and a 30-year-old woman, Ashley Lewis-Begley, was arrested. Troopers and detectives responded to the scene on Scuddy Mountain Road near the community of Scuddy and began an investigation.

Early reports indicate that a DEA Task Force, involving officers from multiple agencies, had arrested a man at the residence earlier as part of a separate investigation. Shortly before 1:00 p.m., as officers were preparing to leave, Lewis-Begley emerged from the residence armed with a firearm. She fired at a law enforcement vehicle occupied by several officers, striking the vehicle. Officers ordered her to drop the weapon, which she did, and she was taken into custody without further incident.

The investigation is ongoing. KSP, which has statewide jurisdiction over officer-involved shootings, is committed to transparency while protecting the integrity of the investigation. Specific details will not be released until key witnesses have been interviewed and facts gathered, and timelines for completing investigations vary depending on case complexity.
