2 people dead after shooting at Henderson apartment complex

Two people are dead after a shooting in a Henderson apartment complex Friday, according to police.

Capt. Haven Tillmon of Henderson Police said the fatal shooting occurred around 7 a.m. in the 1000 block of Center Street, near Lake Mead Parkway and Warm Springs Road.

A caller reported hearing gunshots from an apartment and seeing someone drive away from the apartment complex.

Officers arrived to find a man and a woman, both 32 years old, with gunshot wounds inside an apartment. They were pronounced deceased on the scene.

While detectives were on the scene, the car that left the complex was involved in a collision on Lake Mead Parkway near Lake Las Vegas, Tillmon said. Officers rushed to the crash and arrested one of the people involved.

Police eventually identified the culprit as Andre Thigpen, a family member of one of the victims, but did not disclose which one or how they are related.

The police commander confirmed that the inquiry is still ongoing.

This comes one day after Henderson Police responded to a fatal shooting at a neighboring complex on Center Street. In that case, officers discovered a 40-year-old woman dead of a gunshot wound inside an apartment.

Tillmon told reporters that there was no relationship between the two shootings.
