(STARK COUNTY, Ohio) - Authorities in Ohio report that two individuals are facing charges following the discovery of hundreds of bones and numerous rats within a home on Wednesday. Police responded to a rental property in the Canton area after receiving a tip regarding an overwhelming rat infestation.

Officials revealed that over 200 rats were found living in the residence, alongside several dogs, turtles, and birds. The individuals charged, Billy Jack Park, 45, and Kristie Hatton, 41, are both facing animal cruelty charges.

The home was discovered to be in a deplorable state, filled with garbage, feces, and urine. Canton police noted that the human bones located on the property still require examination by a forensic expert. In response to the situation, the city has issued a warning to the property owner: either repair the home or face demolition, as officials have declared it unfit for human habitation.

Jackie Godbey from the Stark County Humane Society described the conditions as “definitely not livable,” adding that such circumstances are among the worst cases of hoarding she has encountered. The dogs, birds, and turtles discovered in the home have since been rescued by various organizations.
