Man arrested after police standoff at Vancouver waterfront apartment

Vancouver police officers took a man into custody on Thursday afternoon after an hour-long standoff at an apartment near the waterfront.

Police stated on social media that the suspect refused to leave the apartment on the 1100 block of Columbia Way.

Later, police claimed the incident began at 11 a.m., when they received a complaint of a man abusing a woman in the apartment. Police claimed the suspect and woman know each other.

Police said the woman was not gravely injured and approached them when they arrived outside the apartments. The man remained inside the flat and refused to come out or obey police orders. He was allegedly equipped with a knife.

Residents of the apartment building were issued a shelter-in-place warning, and pedestrian and car access was limited while police were on the scene.

SWAT officers arrived, and after several hours, the man surrendered to authorities.

Dominique J. Lane, 34, was taken into the Clark County Jail for Assault II-DV.
