A federal judge sentenced a local man to prison for drug distribution on Friday, May 8.
Giang Tran, 36, of Webster, was sentenced to ten years in prison and five years of supervised release. Tran pleaded guilty in January to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute prohibited narcotics (50 grams or more of methamphetamine), as well as methamphetamine distribution.
A federal grand jury indicted Tran on June 10, 2025.
A cooperating witness told authorities that Tran delivered pounds of crystal methamphetamine in December 2024. Tran made three deliveries to undercover law enforcement at an Everett commercial plaza on January 2, 8, and 21, 2025. He also arranged for an associate’s delivery to Worcester.
Tran delivered or arranged for the delivery of about 1 kilogram of methamphetamine through those deliveries.
