A 23-year-old Eustis man is in custody after police say he struck a 65-year-old man in the back of the head and robbed him late last month.
Calvin Llweely Graham was detained Wednesday when officers from the Eustis Police Department noticed him riding a bicycle near Palmetto Street and East McDonald Avenue, according to EPD Chief Craig Capri.
When Graham noticed officers, he bolted but was captured after a brief pursuit.
On April 29, the EPD responded to a robbery report on Wall Street. The 65-year-old victim told police that he was performing yard work on Bates Avenue when a man, later identified as Graham, approached him from behind and struck him in the head with his fist, knocking him down.
Graham then hit and pummeled the victim before going through his pockets and taking $120, a credit card, and various identity cards.
According to police, Graham escaped on a beige bicycle before returning a short time later and demanding additional goods from the victim, saying, “Give me the rest; that isn’t all,” but taking nothing else.
On Wednesday, EPD posted a wanted flyer on social media, and Graham was later captured. He was arrested on counts of robbery and violence on a person 65 or over and is being held in the Lake County Jail without bail.
