Fentanyl trafficker arrested after collision near shopping plaza in The Villages

An Ocklawaha woman was arrested on multiple narcotics counts following a car crash investigation in The Villages.

Deputies arrived to the crash near the Spanish Plaines shopping area around 1:40 p.m. on Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. During the inquiry, a K-9 unit detected the odor of narcotics in the vehicle of Jennifer Lee Morris, 44.

A search of the vehicle revealed several prescription pill bottles in the front passenger seat. These included three oxycodone and three methadone pills. The center console and driver’s seat contained 0.17 grams of marijuana and two marijuana smoking pipes, according to the report.

Furthermore, an unlabeled prescription bottle was found to contain 10 grams of fentanyl, which exceeded the 4-gram threshold for trafficking, according to the report.

Morris was detained on allegations of possessing oxycodone, methadone, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia, as well as trafficking fentanyl. She was booked into the Sumter County Detention Center and bond was set at $56,000.
