LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the 2021 shooting death of a 21-year-old Michigan man who was visiting family in Louisville.
Louisville Metro Police said officers took 39-year-old Jesse Montez Galloway into custody on an indictment warrant tied to the case.
He faces charges of murder, first-degree wanton endangerment, tampering with physical evidence and being a persistent felony offender.
The charges stem from the Oct. 2, 2021 shooting of JaQuarius “Cory” Bettison in the Moore Court area of the Algonquin neighborhood.
Bettison, a resident of Grand Rapids, Michigan, had traveled to Louisville to visit family when he was shot. He was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, where he died weeks later.
Galloway was arraigned Monday.
Police have not released further details about what led to Galloway’s arrest.
