Cooler temperatures settle in to start the week
After several warm days, noticeably cooler air moved in across the region today. Afternoon highs reached the mid to upper 50s for most areas, with a few spots in southern Kentucky climbing into the low 60s.
Skies will remain mostly clear through the evening with a light breeze, setting up a calm and quiet end to the day.
Patchy frost possible overnight
As temperatures drop tonight, many locations will fall into the 30s, with a few areas closer to the low 40s.
This creates the potential for patchy frost, especially across parts of the Bluegrass and eastern Kentucky. While some cloud cover may limit how widespread frost becomes, conditions still warrant caution for sensitive plants. If you haven’t already, consider bringing them indoors or covering them before the night.
Sunshine returns with a warm-up Tuesday
The cooler air will not stick around for long.
By Tuesday, winds will shift from the south, allowing warmer air to move back into the region. With plenty of sunshine expected, afternoon highs will rebound into the low to mid 70s.
It will be a pleasant spring day across Central and Eastern Kentucky, featuring dry conditions and comfortable temperatures.
Mild and mostly quiet pattern ahead
Looking ahead, the warming trend continues through the rest of the week.
Temperatures are expected to rise into the mid to upper 70s and even the low 80s by Thursday and Friday. While most days will bring plenty of sunshine, there will also be a few chances for isolated showers.
The first opportunity arrives Wednesday, mainly across the northern half of the region. Thursday appears dry, but rain chances increase again heading into Friday and Saturday as the next system approaches.
That late-week system is expected to bring more widespread showers, with the best chance for measurable rainfall arriving late Friday into Saturday.
