Man turns himself in after fatal shooting in Park DuValle, police say

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man turned himself in to police one day after a 22-year-old was shot and killed Saturday night in Louisville’s Park DuValle neighborhood.

Louisville Metro Police responded around 9:30 p.m. to a reported shooting in the 1600 block of Louis Coleman Jr. Drive, according to department spokesperson Aaron Ellis.

When officers arrived, they found a man inside a home who had been shot and killed, police said.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as James Pendleton.

In an update, police said 20-year-old Gianni Fortney turned himself in to officers on Sunday while they were working National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

Authorities arrested him and turned him over to detectives. Fortney faces charges of murder and two counts of wanton endangerment in connection with the shooting.
