LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Another week of spring swings is ahead, with highs nearing 80 by Thursday before a cold front brings rain showers and thunderstorms, followed by another drop in temperatures.

Latest central Kentucky weather forecast

Tuesday will remain quiet, starting with a mix of clouds in the morning before sunshine develops in the afternoon. High temperatures are expected to reach the mid to upper 50s to low 60s.

Overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, a weak disturbance will move across the region, bringing a slight chance of spotty showers. Most areas will stay dry, with highs climbing well into the 60s on Wednesday afternoon.

By Thursday, gusty winds could exceed 30 mph as high temperatures approach 80 degrees. A mix of sun and clouds will continue ahead of a cold front expected to move in by Friday.

The next major development will be the chance for rain showers and thunderstorms along that front late Thursday night into Friday.

For now, the severe weather threat appears to remain north of Kentucky, but it will be something to monitor as the week progresses.

A seasonably cool stretch of spring air is expected to bring a pleasant weekend.
