KENTUCKY — Authorities arrested a man Saturday night in Winchester after he allegedly barricaded himself inside a residence following reports of a domestic violence incident.
Deputies with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office responded just before 8 p.m. on March 15 to a home on Orchid Court after receiving reports of domestic violence, according to the Winchester Police Department.
Authorities identified the man as 39-year-old John Tiggelaar in court records. They said he barricaded himself inside the residence before deputies arrived and allegedly threatened to harm anyone who attempted to enter the home.
A joint special response team made up of sheriff’s deputies and Winchester police officers responded to the scene. Officers said they repeatedly called for Tiggelaar to exit the home using a loudspeaker, but he refused to comply.
Police eventually entered the residence and took Tiggelaar into custody without further incident.
Tiggelaar faces charges of fourth-degree domestic violence assault with minor injury, second-degree strangulation related to domestic violence, third-degree terroristic threatening, and resisting arrest.
He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center without bond. Authorities said he is scheduled to appear in court at 10:30 a.m. on March 26 for a domestic and interpersonal violence hearing.
