Easton Goode, 23, was taken into custody. He is accused of killing his father, 55-year-old Kelly Goode, and his stepfather, 53-year-old Bradley Butler.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A 23-year-old man from Greenville accused of fatally shooting his father and stepfather inside a family home appeared in court late Monday morning in Floyd County.

Easton Goode faces two counts of murder and two counts of criminal recklessness in connection with the deadly shootings, which investigators say happened last Thursday at a home in Greenville.

According to a probable cause affidavit obtained Monday morning, police say the incident began early Thursday when Goode’s mother found him drunk and vomiting inside the home. She and Goode’s stepfather, Brad Butler, helped him to bed.

A short time later, the affidavit says Goode came out of his room and began wrestling with Butler. Another confrontation occurred later that morning after Goode’s mother and Butler reportedly found him lying naked in a bathroom in his own feces.

Goode’s mother told police she called his father, Kelly Goode, asking him to come to the house and take the 23-year-old back to his residence. Investigators say that when Kelly Goode arrived with a family friend and approached his son, the younger Goode opened fire, fatally shooting both his father and Butler.

Goode’s mother and the family friend ran out of the house. The affidavit states that his mother later realized there were bullet holes in her shirt.

Deputies with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office responded and arrested Goode, using a flash-bang device during the operation. According to the affidavit, Goode admitted during an interview with investigators that he shot and killed both men.

Goode’s defense attorney entered a not guilty plea on behalf of his client.
