NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Severe weather season is ramping up. Over the weekend, a line of strong storms moved through Middle Tennessee, and forecasters say the region could face several days this week with the potential for severe thunderstorms.
For most areas, Monday will remain quiet with sunshine and temperatures reaching the 70s. However, parts of southern Middle Tennessee could see storm activity during the afternoon and evening. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the far southern counties under a Level 1 marginal risk for severe weather.
This threat is considered conditional, meaning storms could stay south of Tennessee entirely. However, the latest forecast model data suggests a few thunderstorms may affect far southern Middle Tennessee. If any storm becomes severe, the main threat would be damaging wind gusts exceeding 60 mph.

A larger storm system is expected to bring a more widespread threat to the Mid-South on Tuesday and Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the strongest thunderstorms are expected to remain west of Middle Tennessee. Still, the Storm Prediction Center has placed a few western counties under a Level 1 marginal risk for severe weather out of caution.
Wednesday appears to be the day when all of Middle Tennessee will need to stay weather aware. The entire region, along with Southern Kentucky, is currently under a Level 2 slight risk for severe weather.
While the risk areas could still change, forecasters say confidence is high that a line of strong thunderstorms will move through Wednesday afternoon and evening.
All forms of severe weather could be possible on Wednesday, including damaging wind gusts, large hail, and tornadoes.
