A FIRST ALERT is in effect as much cooler air pushes through the region on this Sunday.

Snow showers are moving across Central and Eastern Kentucky this morning, but don’t let that fool you — a stretch of much nicer weather is on the way.

Monday and Tuesday will be the bright spot of the week, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the low to mid 40s Monday, warming into the low 50s by Tuesday. It’s the kind of weather that makes you want to shed the heavy coat and spend some time outside.

Mornings will stay chilly, with lows in the low 30s, so you’ll still need a jacket early on. By the afternoon, though, conditions will feel comfortable.

Enjoy it while it lasts — this will be the nicest stretch of weather for a while.

Wednesday brings a chance for showers, with highs in the mid 40s, but the rain moves out quickly.

By Thursday and Friday, a sharp cooldown arrives, with highs only in the upper 20s to low 30s, a big drop from Tuesday’s springlike feel.

Winter makes a stronger return next weekend. Saturday looks quiet, while Sunday stays sunny but cold, with highs only in the low 20s.
