Clouds, Mild Temps, and Spotty Drizzle to Start
The day began cloudy as low clouds lingered overnight and through the morning. Even with the cloud cover, temperatures climbed into the upper 50s and low 60s across much of central and southern Kentucky. A few areas saw light rain or drizzle earlier in the day, but nothing widespread or heavy.

Winds were noticeable at times, especially where breaks in the clouds allowed deeper mixing. Gusts briefly picked up in some spots during the afternoon before settling toward sunset.

Quiet and Mild Tonight
Tonight, conditions calm down across the area. Lingering light showers and drizzle will fade, leaving mostly cloudy skies overnight. Temperatures will drop into the low to mid 40s by daybreak. While mild for early January, clouds will remain for much of the night as a weak front passes through.

Clearing Skies and Sunshine Return Wednesday
By Wednesday morning, clouds will gradually clear from west to east as high pressure builds in. Sunshine will return through late morning and afternoon, helping temperatures rebound into the upper 50s, with a few low 60s possible near the Kentucky-Tennessee border.

Wednesday looks like a great midweek day—dry, mild, and brighter than the past couple of days. Winds will be lighter, and the sunshine should be a welcome change.

Dry Wednesday Night Before Storm System Arrives Late Week
Wednesday night remains quiet as high pressure slides overhead. Skies will be partly cloudy, and temperatures will fall into the upper 30s and low 40s overnight. This calm won’t last long, as the next weather system organizes to our west.

Rain, Wind, and Thunder Possible Thursday and Friday
Clouds will increase Thursday ahead of a stronger system moving into the Ohio Valley. Rain chances rise Thursday afternoon and evening, with the most active period expected Thursday night through Friday. This system could bring 1 to 2 inches of rain, along with gusty winds and a few rumbles of thunder.

Cooler Air Returns After the Rain
After the system exits late Friday into Saturday, colder air will move in. Temperatures will return to seasonal levels, with highs falling into the 40s and eventually the 30s through the weekend and early next week.
