ROBERTSON COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — Torilena Fields, the woman accused of killing her mother and cooking the remains in October 2024, was ruled competent to stand trial on Friday morning.

Robertson County Circuit Court officials told FOX 56 the results of the Nov. 14 hearing and said Fields is scheduled to appear in court again in early December.

In the fall of 2024, two men reportedly arrived to do work for Trudy Fields, Torilena’s mother, but instead discovered body parts and a bloody mattress behind her home.

Court documents detail the scene inside, where authorities found a dog’s body and parts of Trudy’s remains in a large pot inside the “still warm” oven.

Since March 2025, Fields has undergone court-ordered psychiatric evaluations after her attorney questioned her ability to “appreciate the nature and consequences of the proceedings” or take part in her defense.

The evaluation findings reportedly determined that Fields is able to stand trial.

Her next pretrial conference is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Dec. 8.
