A Kentucky man has proven lightning can strike twice after winning his second Kentucky Lottery Instant Play jackpot in just five months.
Braxton Skaggs of Campbellsville, Kentucky, recently took home nearly $58,000, adding to his earlier $30,000 win from May.
According to a Kentucky Lottery release, Skaggs had taken a break from playing after his first Triple Platinum win. But when his mother won $3,000 online, it reignited his excitement.
“He got on two or three days later,” his mother said. “I kept telling him it was going to hit.”
While packing for a family trip, Skaggs decided to give it another shot.
“I just got off from work and was just wasting time and decided to jump on,” he told lottery officials.
With $150 left in his account, he wagered $5 on the Bluegrass Bucks Hot Hit Jackpots Instant Play game and won the $57,947.26 progressive jackpot. After taxes, he took home $41,722.03.
“I was tore up. I was more excited about this one than I was the first one,” Skaggs said.
His mother vividly remembered his reaction:
“I was sitting at the table, and he comes running in. ‘Mom, mom, you’re not going to believe this, I hit the big one again.’”
Skaggs plans to use his winnings to move closer to his dream of building a house.
“We’re getting ready to start pouring the foundation next week,” he said as he left Kentucky Lottery headquarters.
