LEWISBURG, W.Va. (LOOTPRESS) — A Lewisburg woman was arrested Thursday evening after city officials, including Mayor Beverly White and City Manager Misty Hill, reported seeing her behave erratically during a family Halloween movie event at the Lewisburg Visitor Center.

According to a police report from Patrolman M. Yates of the Lewisburg Police Department, the woman, identified as Danielle Fleschner, appeared unsteady, repeatedly nodded off, and wandered around the room as her young daughter followed her. Several parents also alerted officers about her concerning behavior.

When approached by police, Fleschner appeared sluggish and unsteady, initially denying any recent drug use. She later admitted to using methamphetamine earlier that morning with an acquaintance, the report stated.

Officers searched her purse and found used foils and “shooters” commonly associated with drug use, along with multiple pieces of Halloween candy. One foil contained a crystalline substance that tested positive for methamphetamine, while another held an orange-white powder. The suspected drugs were sent to the West Virginia State Forensic Laboratory for further analysis.

Fleschner was arrested and charged with child neglect, possession of a controlled substance, and public intoxication. She was transported to the Southern Regional Jail after being processed at the Lewisburg Police Department.

Child Protective Services was notified, and the child was safely released to her grandparents.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
