BECKLEY, W.Va. (LOOTPRESS) — A 46-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that occurred on October 25 in Beckley.

Police said officers responded around 8 p.m. to the 3600 block of Robert C. Byrd Drive after receiving reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.

When officers arrived, they found 72-year-old William Clark, who had suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The driver had fled the scene before police arrived.

Although there were no immediate eyewitnesses, investigators gathered physical evidence and reviewed surveillance footage from nearby businesses, which helped them identify the suspect’s vehicle and driver.

On the morning of October 27, Beckley Police Detectives arrested Sherri Willis of Beckley. She was charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death, a felony offense.

Willis is being held at the Southern Regional Jail on a $100,000 bond.
