FLOYDS KNOBS, Ind. – One person was injured Thursday in a fuel tank fire in southern Indiana.
Highlander Fire reported that firefighters received a call around 5 p.m. for a fire and explosion in the 4600 block of E. Luther Road, off Highway 150.
WDRB reporter Samantha Condra described an elevated fuel tank on fire at the scene. Highlander Fire and Palmyra Fire crews arrived and had the blaze extinguished by 6:10 p.m.
Highlander Fire Assistant Chief Brandon Alexander said the injured person was refueling a lawn mower from the elevated tank when something ignited. Another individual experienced a separate medical emergency at the same time. Both were transported to the hospital.
Alexander added that fire crews used a significant amount of foam to smother the flames and quickly brought the fire under control.
