LEWIS COUNTY, Ky. — The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued tornado warnings for areas in Ohio and Kentucky.
Scioto County, Ohio, and Lewis County, Kentucky, were previously under tornado warnings but are now under Severe Thunderstorm Warnings. Officials say a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado is near Vanceburg, moving northeast at 30 mph.
Flying debris poses a serious risk, and mobile homes may be damaged or destroyed. Roofs, windows, vehicles, and trees are also at risk of damage.
Residents are advised to move to a basement or interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and avoid windows. If outside, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, seek the nearest substantial shelter and protect yourself from debris.
Severe weather reports can be submitted safely via weather.gov/iln or on social media.
