A man riding an electric scooter was struck and fatally injured by an SUV in the North Park neighborhood on Chicago’s Northwest Side during the early hours of Friday morning.
According to Chicago police, the victim, a 67-year-old man, was operating an electric scooter when he was struck by a Dodge SUV in the 3300 block of West Peterson Avenue, shortly after 4:30 a.m.
Authorities reported that the 67-year-old was transported to Saint Francis Hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
The driver of the SUV, a 44-year-old individual, was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed.
The Major Accidents Investigation Unit has assumed responsibility for the ongoing investigation.
