A Brownsburg man was convicted of intimidation after sending threats to a Hamilton County judge and other officials.
The Madison County Prosecutor’s Office stated on Wednesday that Jarrod Petty, 35, was found guilty of six counts of intimidation following a jury trial in Hamilton County Superior Court 3. Madison County Prosecutor Andrew Hanna stated that MCPO worked as a special prosecutor in Petty’s case.
The inquiry into Petty began on April 15, 2025, when a Hamilton County Courts reporter informed law enforcement that Petty had written threatening texts to two judges and a Boone County deputy prosecutor who was serving as the special prosecutor in his case at the time. Court filings state that the threats were made between February and April of 2025.
As officers investigated the threats, they discovered that Petty was allegedly involved in a domestic relations case pending in Hamilton County Superior Court 3. Police also discovered that the two judges Petty had threatened were presiding over the case.
On February 21, 2025, Petty called the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office and stated his dissatisfaction with his case. According to court filings, Petty explained on the phone that he knew where all of the escape and entry points were inside the courthouse building.
He also said that he knew where all of the cameras were inside the courthouse. Another recorded occurrence happened on March 14, 2025, when a court administrator got the following messages from Petty:
- “I don’t care about the law.”
- “Y’alls process is done.”
- “Its ballgame once you hurt my kid.”
- “He messed with my family.”
- “If I don’t get legal custody of my kids, Im not following y’alls process.”
- “Don’t be upset at how it turns out.”
- “I’ll Be here tomorrow.”
Petty reportedly threatened to “get justice any way I can” in a phone call. I will pursue justice in whatever manner I can. “I’m not afraid to break the law to get justice for my little girl; it may cost lives, but there are no lines I won’t cross,” Petty added. “I’m going to do what I would do if someone had their hands around my daughter’s neck, and the only time judges are held accountable is outside the courtroom just like the judge in Kentucky when he slept with the guy’s daughter.”
Court filings reported more threats in which Petty stated that he knew one of the judges’ children and what they looked like, claiming, “When people mess with other people’s kids, he finds out everything he can about them.”
Petty is scheduled to get his punishment on November 24. The highest penalty he might receive is 13 years.
