Lakeville man sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing pregnant sister and unborn child

A Lakeville man was sentenced Thursday for killing his pregnant sister two years ago.

According to court records, Jack Ball, 25, was sentenced to life without parole for the killings of Bethany Ann Israel, 30, and her unborn child. Ball pled guilty in January to two counts of first-degree murder, one of which involved the murder of an unborn child.

Ball was arrested on May 23, 2024, after his mother contacted 911 since she had not heard from Israel after a dinner with him.

According to court filings, Ball’s mother drove to his house and witnessed him leaving. After entering the house, she discovered blood on the floor.

Authorities eventually recovered Israel’s dismembered body inside the residence, as well as another body part inside a Rosemount property.

According to court filings, detectives discovered many notebooks and handwritten messages in which Ball voiced his rage toward his pregnant sister and stated that she was “no longer innocent.”

According to court records, Israel was around four months pregnant when she was killed.
