Passenger taken into custody on warrants in Auburn

A traffic stop on a speeding vehicle resulted in the arrest of a man sought on multiple warrants early Sunday morning.

On October 4, around 6:35 a.m., Sgt. Gregg Wildman noticed a black Acura exiting the Massachusetts Turnpike onto Southbridge Street at a high rate of speed.

After checking the registration and discovering that the registered owner’s license was suspended, Sgt. Wildman pulled over the Acura on West Street.

The motorist was arrested for driving on a suspended license.

The front-seat passenger claimed to have a Maine driver’s license and offered to drive but said he didn’t have it with him and gave his name.

The name turned out to be incorrect.

Officers identified the passenger as Connor Ferguson, 30, of Leicester, who was wanted on an outstanding Massachusetts Parole Board violation warrant.

Ferguson received a state prison sentence in 2018 after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the 2015 shooting death of an 18-year-old Worcester man.

Officers also discovered Ferguson was wanted by the United States Marshals Service in connection with a different, unrelated investigation starting in Maine.

Ferguson was hauled into custody on both warrants.
