Multiple people were taken to area hospitals following a collision involving EMTs Thursday afternoon in Fall River.
According to scanner transmissions, shortly before 2:00 p.m., an EMS truck and another car collided near High and Locust Streets, with the civilian vehicle on its side.
According to Fall River EMS, one of their interfacility transfer trucks was en route to a local hospital for a scheduled release when the event occurred. The Medic unit was not loaded with patients at the time.
Both EMTs were sent to local hospitals, while the vehicle’s driver was taken to Rhode Island Hospital Trauma Center because her vehicle had flipped on its side. According to EMS, all patients were evacuated with non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to recover fully.
Fall River EMS Medic 4, Medic 5, and Medic 6 responded, as did Squad 11, Squad 12, the EMS Operations Captain and Lieutenant, EMS 1, and EMS 2. Fall River Fire Engine 12, Platform 1, and Heavy Rescue 1, as well as Fall River Police, were on the scene.
Fall River EMS wants to urge everyone to respect all stop signs, follow speed limits, and stay aware of your surroundings.
The reason for the accident is still being investigated by the Fall River Police Department, and no culpability has been identified.
