A Washington, D.C. man was sentenced to 80 months in federal prison for his role in a series of pharmacy burglaries at 20 locations in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
Deontae Britton, also known as Deaundre Blount, 33, is one of three men accused with pharmacy burglaries, which included break-ins at pharmacies in Baltimore and Howard counties.
According to court documents, Britton, 40-year-old Harold Dorman of Chillum, Maryland, and 58-year-old William Sherod III of Fort Washington, Maryland, burglarized pharmacies from January to April 2022. The offenses prompted a three-state, multi-agency law enforcement investigation.
Investigators said two masked individuals, including Britton, frequently entered pharmacies after business hours while dressed in dark clothing. Sherod served as a lookout and parked a separate vehicle nearby, according to court filings.
According to police, one of the men used a blue pry bar, while the other used a huge silver Halligan bar, a traditional forcible-entry equipment among firefighters. The tools were used to break open doors, frames, and locks.
The males often spent less than two minutes inside the pharmacies looking for and stealing controlled medications, which police believe they intended to market illegally.
According to authorities, the stolen narcotics included oxycodone, promethazine-codeine syrup, hydrocodone-acetaminophen, Adderall, Suboxone, and fentanyl patches.
Sherod had already been sentenced to 40 months in prison. Dorman’s lawsuit is still pending.
