A man has been charged with first-degree felony aggravated kidnapping in connection with the armed abduction and fatal shooting of a 37-year-old man.
Carlos Alvidrez Jr., 36, was arrested Sept. 24 after Bexar County Sheriff’s Office investigators linked him to the death of Jamie Adolfo Rodriguez, whose body was discovered Sept. 6 on New Sulphur Springs Road. An autopsy determined Rodriguez died from a gunshot wound to the torso in a homicide.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the killing stemmed from a dispute over $12,000 in stolen drug money. Surveillance video from Sept. 5 showed multiple suspects beating Rodriguez outside a home on Rivas Street, chasing him down when he tried to escape, and forcing him into the rear cargo area of a white Chevrolet Tahoe.
Latent palm prints on Rodriguez’s rental car led investigators to Mark Anthony Moran, 38, who owned the Tahoe. Deputies located the vehicle on Sept. 23 and found dried blood in the cargo bay. Under questioning, Moran admitted to participating in the assault and implicated Alvidrez, stating he had loaned Alvidrez the SUV over Labor Day weekend.
Alvidrez admitted to investigators that he chased Rodriguez down and forced him into the Tahoe, though he denied firing the fatal shot.
Three co-defendants , Amanda Ann Garza, Francisco Garza, and Moran , also face felony charges related to the kidnapping and assault, while a fourth suspect, Matthew Doria, remains at large.
